Spring is coming and the days start to get longer. And while it is still cold, (and at times it snows) the first sunny days appear and with it and everybody wants to go out and pursue it. Yes, we who live in this type of climate chase the sun.
Therefore, on this occasion I want to talk about 6 streets to walk in Stockholm.

STRANDVÄGEN

STRANDVÄGEN is one of the most beautiful streets in the city and, in terms of real estate, the most expensive street in Sweden. For that reason it is not strange that it is also the street that some local celebrities choose to live, like Per Gessle, the singer of the mythical group Roxette.
Taking a walk (or going for a run) on the shores of the Baltic Sea is one of the favorite activities of the Swedes, since in addition of taking a bit of sun you can also enjoy a FIKA or some beer on the terraces of the bars.

NORTH MÄLARSTRAND

Norr Mälarstrand is one of the streets that borders Lake Mälaren and will take you from the Stockholm City Hall to the Rålambshovsparken Park. You can take a long walk along the lake and enjoy a pause in one of the coffee shops in the area. Although, if you decide to visit the island of Kungsholmen, you should not miss the possibility of visiting the City Hall and go up in its tower. The views of Stockholm are truly amazing!

MÄLARSTRAND OF THE SOUTH

On the island of Södermalm, on the other side of Mälaren (opposite Norr Mälarstrand) is Söder Mälarstrand, which offers a privileged view of one of Stockholm’s most iconic buildings, the City Hall. In this area you will find many moored boats, which are not only private homes, but also hotels, restaurants and discos. An area that is even frequented at night.
If you pay attention, you will see that in the middle of the gigantic wall of rock there is a staircase half hidden among the vegetation. And if you are hesitating between climbing it or following your walk along the lake, I assure you that each of those steps will deserve the effort because the views from Monteliusvägen are very beautiful. Don´t you believe me? Take a look at our post The best views of Stockholm!, and you will not have any doubt about it!

KARLAVÄGEN

Karlavägen is located near the diplomatic area of Stockholm and extends from the outskirts of Vasastan to Östermalm. This is one of the streets preferred by the Swedes to do some exercise so you will surely cross paths with solo runners and training groups. Yes, even in winter.
You can also sit down to rest or eat something, although if you are in the area, I recommend you to visit Humlegården, one of the best parks in Stockholm.

GÖTGATAN

Götgatan crosses the vibrant Södermalm Island from Slussen to Skanstull. On the way you will discover all kind of shops, small cafes, parks, and markets that will surely call your attention.
Between the metro stations Slussen and Medborgarplatsens, the Götgatan street is a pedestrian zone where, although cars do not have access, you will see that bicycle traffic is important in summer. Therefore, I recommend you pay attention to them. Besides this, it is a good area to have a drink or lunch, since you will find bars and restaurants with some economic options.

DROTTNINGGATAN

Literally translated as the “Queen Street”, it is one of the main streets in the center of Stockholm, this pedestrian street extends north from the bridge in Riksbron, in the district of Norrmalm, very close to the meeting point of our Free Tours in Stockholm, to Observatorielunden, the park where the observatory is located, in the district of Vasastaden.
Most of Drottninggatan is closed to traffic and there you will find souvenir shops, restaurants and several coffee shops.
